MMSA Discussion / Re: MMSA Forum is down
« Last post by Plagosus on Today at 02:34:08 pm »
I have now learned that Flag has said that he does not want a temporary forum because it will prejudice the security of the new forum which will not be open to the public. He says that users of the temporary forum will be tempted to give out the URL of the new forum on the temporary forum. That does not sound very convincing to me given that there are various other outlets on which the URL could be made known. However, mindful of all the hard work Flag has put in over the years, I am happy to respect his wishes.

There does though have to be a limit. We had a forum where, over some 20 years, a community was built of those with an interest in common who enjoyed participating. All the regulars must be missing it, some more than others, perhaps even feeling that they have been deprived of a safe haven. At what point should we say that we cannot wait any longer to get together again? Will this thread still be relevant at Easter?

Easter will soon be with us. Have we now reached the limit?

...if only because we speak almost the same language.

There is a well-known saying, variously attributed to G. B. Shaw, Oscar Wilde, Mark Twain and Winston Churchill, that The USA and the UK are two states separated by a common language. Written American English and written British English are essentially the same language as are the associated spoken standards. Whatever regional varieties there may be, on the whole films and TV programmes whether made in the UK or the USA are understood on both sides of the Atlantic.

The well-known saying does rather suggest the main difference between Americans and Brits is language. I am inclined to think it is in fact what they have most in common. Because we speak the same language there is a widespread belief we have much in common, when that is not the case. There is a tendency for the British, or at least the English, not to think of the English speaking non-British (though not the Irish) as foreigners when that is exactly what they are. I will not get into discussing differences as that can lead to stereotyping, but I do assert that Americans are as different from the British as the French or any other nationality.

More generally, I think it is a mistake to align language with any one or more of nationality, race, ethnicity or religion.

I don't see why not.  Relationships last as long as the people in them are committed to making them last.

There is and always will be a Special Relationship twixt USA and GB, if only because we speak almost the same language. Jack's House and Mmsa are surely good examples. Yes, both sites welcome contributors from all over: however...

Right now, I'm gazing at the vast ocean who separates or divides us: calm today. One side we wield the welting cane, t'other the bruising paddle. C'est ca.

Presidents and Prime Ministers, they come and they go.  Our Special Relationship shall endure. Yes?

Stepdad Spanking by Otkguy

https://malespank.net/viewStory.php?id=60790

Eighteen-year-old Craig finds himself misbehaving and skipping school. He decides that’s what is best for his behavior is a good, old-fashioned, bare-bottom, over-the-knee spanking from his ex-military stepfather.

This great piece tells the story of Craig’s first ever spanking, complete with vivid descriptions of the spanking and what Craig goes through while it is administered.

A great story and well worth a read.

MMSA Discussion / Clarified policy re: image links in MMSA stories
« Last post by David M. Katz on March 19, 2026, 10:55:05 am »
Flagellant has clarified a policy that will greatly impact some of you.  This applies to all authors and this will alter the way you some of you write and submit stories significantly.

We can no longer approve any stories with any sort of link to an outside image, site, video, etc.  This applies even if the link is "cold" or only in a copy and paste format. Going forward we will need to either edit or disapprove any stories with such references to external links.

As far as your stories already approved that might contain links, I have asked Flag about the practicality of editing them all retroactively.  Should he decide to do so, then please understand when your older stories are edited.

Thanks so much for understanding.

Read it last night on arriving home from NYC.  I should have gone straight to bed, but I couldn't.  I've been exhausted all day as a result, but it was worth it.  Excellent story.  You might try clicking on your dislike emoji--my experience has been that will undo it and pop up the list so you can click the appropriate one.

PJ,

I fat-fingered the dislike option meaning to select like. I cannot undo it.

Thanks for your kind words.

Story Discussion / Re: Queued - In School Suspension Series by Bobby Watson

Jakke ... bless you for recognizing Bobby Watson. I miss him greatly. He only posted 104 stories over his many years with us, but that guy
wrote MMSA Americana in a way that spoke and still speaks to our MMSA souls with such carefully and beautifully crafted gems. His Corey Lane
adventures and his railroad themed works are some of my favorites. His passing left a large void in that manner. I think, but am not certain that
Bobby was likely a member of Jack's old site. Maybe somebody can speak to that. Anyway, I still admire him for his efforts and always will.
