Adding my congratulations to everyone else's.
Having read your short stories I have long thought you could write a great novel. I hope that it is available to purchase (and read :) ) soon.

I don't know enough about what is going on, so I may be way off base.  One thing that helped when my grandmother was not wanting to get some help with the house was the county health services.  They had a person that can explain to the elder what Medicaid/Medicare does and does not pay for, and what other services were available.  We had told her some of the very same things, but hearing it from a non-family member helped her to accept it.  You might look to see if there is anything similar in your area.

I was lucky about learning to cook.  When I was in high school, my mom was working full time and going to law school at night.  She just didn't have time to do everything, so she had my younger sister and I take over the grocery shopping and cooking diner.  I learned a lot then, about budgeting, about planning, and about cooking.  Mom was always available for advice, but my sister and I needed to do it all.  I grumbled a little at the time, but looking back, it was a great learning experience for me.

Its great that you are teaching your boys at least the basics of cooking.  There are a lot of men that can't do more than cook a steak on a grill.

I have to admit that I am jealous.  I love to cook, but find it very hard to cook a real meal every day when I get home from work.  It would be great to have the time and energy to cook a real meal every night.  Even if you have helpers, it still takes time.

Without getting to deep into politics, I have been thinking about asking what the people living in Texas think is going to happen to Cruz in November.  The national media that I have been watching says that he is in deep trouble, but I don't know how much salt to take with that :).  Do the people in Texas think he is in trouble, or is this the media trying to create a story to get more viewers?

P.S., I haven't asked before this, because I don't want to start a discussion about WHO should be elected.  I am trying to see what the local predictions are for the election, not debate about the candidates.

Anecdotes / Re: School Trouble

Thanks Jack, it seems like there is always some drama going on at a High School :)  Now it is a fun story to hear about, but I remember how serious it seemed when I was in High School.

Anecdotes / Re: School Trouble
« on: May 19, 2018, 11:37:27 am »
As we close in on the end of the year, the weather's nicer, the students are getting excited, but working harder to stay out of trouble (or able to burn off steam outside), and Mr. P is gone less often.  Yesterday, however, turned into a real mess, and I got involved.

There was a situation with a senior boy and his girl friend, which had parents of both kids called in, and involved most of the office staff, with threats of the police being called.  I also got involved in that, but was called on to handle a different issue while everyone else was tied up.  I left before the situation was ultimately resolved, so I'm not going to discuss it right now.

Has the situation been resolved, and can you tell us about it?

Introductions and FAQs / Re: My Lit Class's Reading List
« on: February 22, 2018, 06:52:43 am »
Thank you for giving us the book list.  Several of them bring back found memories and a couple of them that I never read sound interesting.  Some of the books on the list have made it to my to be read list :)

I am not sure that the boys could read them themselves, but the Zanth books by Philip Antony are full of fun puns that young kids love.

Free Discussion / Re: Picture prompts for BOTDs
« on: November 17, 2017, 06:21:42 pm »
I was thinking about the prompts this morning, and was going to make a suggestion that a thread be started in the BOTD forum.  On the old board, there was the pictures forum, but here it is the celebrations forum, so BOTD prompts won't fit there.  But it makes sense to me to put the prompts with the BOTDs.  What do others think?

Bransom Updates / Re: Organizination
« on: October 27, 2017, 06:59:37 am »
Just like in the BOTDs, I am going to agree with everyone  :)

The one thing I would suggest is that since you are hosting the forum on your site, it might be easier to have it link to pages on your site.  So I would suggest that you have some of the "list" topics as pages on your site, and the forum link to them.  I think it would be easier to create the format you like in html than in the forum markup language.  Like others I would love to see lists of the boys and their ages.  And a while back you previewed some static pages for bios that I thought were very good.  And like Leti I really enjoyed Anecdotes, so hope it survives the changes.

Biographies / Re: Ryan Edward Metcalf Wells (22)
« on: October 20, 2017, 08:10:53 am »
Thanks Jack, I am glad to hear that Ryan is doing well.  There is a lot of talent in the touring companies and I could see someone making a great career out of them.  But I agree that it is good to have something to fall back on.  Having already succeeded will give Ryan a leg up if he decides to go back to touring.
